Rome, explained for visitors

Where in Rome to celebrate

Rome is a big city, and on New Year’s Eve getting across it takes planning. Each area has its own character, its own kind of venue and its own way home.

Monti, Esquilino, Pincio, Circus Maximus

City Centre

Palaces, rooftops and hotels within walking distance of the Colosseum and the Spanish Steps. The most atmospheric choice, and the hardest to drive into.

Rome's historic centre offers the most theatrical New Year's Eve: a noble palazzo, hotels between Termini and the Circus Maximus, Casina Valadier inside Villa Borghese, clubs between Trevi and Flaminio, a restaurant-club near Termini and a venue at Porta Ardeatina. Heaven's gala dinner costs €99, and the Circus Maximus concert is within walking distance.

New Year’s Eve in the city centre

Foro Italico, Ponte Milvio, Via Cassia

Rome North

Leafy residential Rome: villas on the Cassia hills, restaurants around Ponte Milvio and the big club nights by the Olympic Stadium.

Rome North is the area of the big New Year's Eve events: the Eden Experience at the Stadio Olimpico, the exclusive villa on the Via Cassia and restaurants with clubs at Tor di Quinto. Venues with parking, buffet dinners at €80 at Profumo and Qvinto, and party entry at €40 after 00:30 at the Eden Experience.

New Year’s Eve in Rome North

EUR, Ostiense, Appia Antica

EUR & Rome South

Rationalist 1930s boulevards turned nightlife district, plus historic estates along the ancient Appian Way. Well connected by metro line B.

EUR is a New Year's Eve hotspot in Rome, with venues around Piazza Marconi, Viale della Civiltà Romana, Torrino and the countryside along the Via Ardeatina. Restaurants, clubs, hotels with overnight stays, rationalist halls and historic villas, with party tickets at €25 at Puro EUR.

New Year’s Eve in EUR and Rome South

Maccarese, Castelli Romani, Lunghezza

Coast & countryside

Castles by the sea, villas in the Castelli Romani hills and country estates: a bigger night out, best with a driver or a room on site.

Beyond the GRA ring road, New Year's Eve means a country house, a castle by the sea or a residence with an open bar: venues with on-site parking, a table reserved for the whole night and accessible prices. Casale Traiano's dinner costs €90 and Residenza Castelverde's party ticket €49.

Getting around

Plan the way home before the night.

Taxis and ride-hailing are in very short supply in the hour after midnight. Choose a venue close to where you’re staying, book a private car in advance, or pick a hotel venue and stay the night.
