Who offers an alternative menu
The New Year's Eve dinner menu in Italy is almost always fixed: you choose the package, not the dishes. If you are vegetarian, vegan or coeliac you therefore need to check beforehand, because a substitute dish has to be planned in the kitchen and cannot be improvised on the night of the 31st. In Rome, these are the venues that state they offer an alternative.
Atlantico Live in EUR is the only venue we list that publishes two complete menus alongside the main one: a vegan menu and a gluten-free menu, at the same price as the package you choose. Villa Grant says vegan and coeliac-friendly dishes are available at the served dinner in the Sala Piscina (the pool room). Target Restaurant on Via Torino has a dedicated vegetarian menu for both of its dinner packages. Casale 4.5 offers a vegetarian alternative at its dinners in both the main hall and the veranda. DoubleTree by Hilton Rome Monti and Salone delle Colonne also say a vegetarian menu is available on request.
Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free are not the same thing
A vegetarian menu is possible almost anywhere: two courses are swapped and the kitchen can handle it even on the day. Vegan is rarer, because it affects sauces, dressings and desserts too, and needs to be agreed in advance. Gluten-free is the most delicate request: it is not a preference but a medical need, and in a kitchen serving three hundred covers it requires separate equipment to avoid cross-contamination. That is why few venues commit to it formally; when they do, as Atlantico Live does, the menu is written down and published.
How to ask
The practical rule is to mention it when you book, not afterwards. New Year's Eve packages are sold in limited numbers and the kitchen finalises its orders days in advance: a request that arrives on 30 December often cannot be accommodated. When you book, say how many people in your group have a dietary need and what it is, ask for written confirmation and, if you are coeliac, ask specifically how cross-contamination is handled in the kitchen.
Menus you can read before booking
On some venue pages the full menu is published dish by dish, not just mentioned: Casa 900 has all three versions of its dinner, the classic one, the gluten-free one and the vegetarian one; Target Restaurant publishes its New Year's dinner menu, its vegetarian menu and its children's menu; Hanami has its 31 December menu and its menu for children; Puro EUR has both its meat and its fish versions. You will also find the menus for Piper Club, Toy Room and Villa dei Principi. These are the menus from the last edition: they give you a sense of the standard of the cooking and how many courses to expect, while the menus for 2027 are confirmed shortly before the holidays.
If the venue page says nothing
The absence of information does not mean it is not possible: it means it has not been stated. In that case the way forward is to ask, and the answer comes from the venue. Through NewYearsEveRome.com you can send us your question and we will pass it on to the venue together with your availability request, so you have an answer before you pay. The venue pages on this site show the menu from the last published edition: the 2027 menus are confirmed by the venues in the weeks before Christmas, and that is when the alternatives become final.
