New Year’s Eve at Villa dei Principi, on the via Aurelia

Villa dei Principi is a reception villa at Valcanneto, part of Cerveteri, at kilometre 32.5 of the via Aurelia. On 31 December the hall is set up as a theatre-restaurant: a served New Year’s Eve dinner, a live show with performers and dancers, then a DJ set into the night.

It is the right choice if you are coming from north-west Rome or the coast and do not want to drive into the city on the 31st: you leave the Aurelia and park inside the grounds.

Where it is and how to get there

The address is via Doganale 3, Cerveteri, at the Ceri-Valcanneto exit at kilometre 32.5 of the via Aurelia, about forty minutes’ drive from north Rome and close to the coast at Ladispoli and Marina di San Nicola. On-site parking is included in every package; public transport does not serve the area at night, so in practice you need a car.

The New Year’s Eve programme

At the last published edition dinner began at 20:30, with one bottle of wine for every three guests and performances by the house artists between courses. At midnight came the toast with cotechino and lentils (the traditional Italian New Year’s dish of spiced pork sausage with lentils, said to bring prosperity); from 00:30 to 02:00 the open bar was running, with a premium cocktail bar for mixology, and the night carried on with a DJ set. The 2027 programme will be confirmed by the villa.

Prices and packages

Prices at the last edition: Prime dinner €105 per person with a table reserved until 23:15, Elite dinner €120 with a table for the whole night, Supreme dinner €135 with a table for the whole night and a champagne toast. All include the show, the open bar from 00:30 to 02:00 and parking. Party-only entry cost €45 from 23:15 and €35 from 00:30; the VIP table €80 per person for a minimum of five, with one bottle of spirits for every five people. Dinner tables seat a minimum of ten, and smaller groups are seated together with others; the VIP table in the party area is the exception, as it starts from five people. 2027 prices are being updated.

Who it suits

A good fit for couples and groups who want a complete night in one place, with dinner, a show and dancing, and who are travelling by car. It is one of the few venues in the area to include an open bar in its dinner packages too. If you are staying in central Rome and not driving, you will find more convenient options in the city.
